Ann-Arbor is a lovely city located west of Detroit in Washtenaw County, near Belleville Lake. Home of the University of Michigan since 1837, the university today continues to be the educational, cultural and economic mainstay of Ann Arbor. Graced with over 33,000 trees along the city's streets, Ann Arbor has been rated one of the top 10 cycling cities in North America. There are several parks within the city that offer scenic trails for hiking and biking, as well as swimming pools, picnic areas, tennis courts, play areas and water slides. Argo Park, which encompasses over 32 acres alongside the Huron River, also offers hiking and biking, fishing, canoe and rowboat rentals. Golf and horseback riding can also be found near Ann Arbor. The Nichols Arboretum is a 123-acre nature area that serves as an educational and research facility for the University of Michigan. Visitors are allowed to hike numerous trails in the arboretum and view the various plant collections. There are several significant museums to visit in Ann Arbor, including the Ruthyen Museum of Natural History, which contains Michigan's largest collection of dinosaur remains. And, the Clements Library holds the 1493 printed version of the letter that Christopher Columbus sent to Queen Isabella.
