Grand Beach
is a village of less than 150 residents located in Harbor County in the southwest portion of the state, near Lake Michigan. Harbor County includes the towns of Michiana, New Buffalo, Three Oaks, Union Pier, Lakeside, Harbert and Grand Beach. The little town of Grand Beach began as a shooting preserve in the early 1900s and was later promoted as a resort community, which it remains today. The area is filled with upscale homes that surround a private country club, and the village of Grand Beach is also home to the Grand Beach Nature Preserve. Harbor County is anchored by two public beaches; New Buffalo at the southern end and the Warren Dunes State Park on the northern end. Many local township beaches can be found in between. Three golf courses are also located in the area and hiking trails and camping can be found in Warren Woods State Preserve and Warren Dunes State Park. The latter is also considered to have the areas’ best sand dunes and is home to “Tower Hill.” Other area attractions include swimming, boating and fishing, wind surfing, biking, antique shopping and dining in quaint small towns.

Southwest Michigan enjoys four distinct seasons and there is a saying that goes, "if you don't like the weather, wait a day and it will change." This is because both the warm, humid air coming up from the Gulf of Mexico, and cold, dry air from the Arctic influence the climate. Located near the shores of Lake Michigan, the climate is also influenced by the lake effect, which helps keep temperatures mild during the summer and increases the moisture content in the air throughout the year. In the winter, this moisture condenses as snow as it reaches the land, creating heavy snowfalls in some areas, known as "snow squalls" on the downwind shores of the lakes. Showers and thunderstorms are common in the spring and summer, and fall is often the sunniest time of the year in Michigan.
